I’m having an issue with the 10W laser on my Snapmaker 2.0. I haven’t used the laser for almost a year, and now I wanted to work on a project again. During the setup, I apparently made a mistake by leaving the machine powered on while switching modules.
Well, after the first camera focusing setup, nothing was burned, and when I checked the community posts, I suspected that switching from 3D printing to the laser while the machine was still powered may have damaged the laser and/or the controller. So, I ordered new parts and reinstalled everything. Same result: during the camera calibration, nothing gets burned, but it still reports success without any error message. The power calibration worked fine, as did the tool focus calibration. I can see the blue laser light, but nothing is actually burned.
Since several posts pointed to firmware issues (related to the enclosure door sensors), I downgraded to version V1.17.17. Same effect.
Does anyone have an idea what else I could try to get this thing working again and keep me from going “driving nuts”? Is there a logical root cause analysis for this issue?
You wrote something about new toolhead, new controller and the issue behaves the same?
In this case, check your enclosure door state and magnet alignment. I know you did this but in my opinion there is not much left if your toolhead is new.
Dear xchrisd
Many thanks for your input! Really appreciated! Finally re to your input I found the issue. The door detection. Once i removed the cover of the LED’s I recognized that the cable was not plugged into the switch. So the door detection not really worked. When I plugged in the cable, the laser was working as it should.
Many thanks for your fast response and valuable inputs.
