BLUF: What is the real offset for the 1064nm laser in lightburn? Framing, crosshair, and actual burn position do not match! Not sure how to switch into the 2W laser accurately.
I have a project wherein I cut a jig out of basswood with the 40w module, then switching to the 1064nm (2W) module, but it appears the offsets are incorrect or something else is off with lightburn integration. I am using the available configuration for lightburn with my snapmaker artisan and here is my issue:
Here is my scenario:
Jig is bolted into workspace
Cut a hole in basswood with 40w laser
Switched module to 2w laser
Placed metal coin in jig hole
cut comes out significantly off the target area
using default offset x21.5,y-11
Troubleshooting:
Cut target into dark plastic
measures x,y difference
result was same as built in offset (x21.5,y-11)
reversed offset and the Y was closer, with X being slightly off (x-21.5,y11)
I suppose ill have to give it a try, but I have used the 40w many times and the offset is perfect. When I frame, the red cross hair shows the burn area, when I burn, it clearly shifts to the laser coordinates. Since they are functionally the same, I assumed something was wrong with my math. Seems odd snapmaker would need such a work around for only one of the laser modules.
Also, in 2026, Snapmaker made profiles for these lasers with the offset already calculated. Using Ray/Artisan/2.0 with LightBurn | Snapmaker Wiki. So I dont know, something seems off when considering the official Lightburn profile.
