Worse product go with a user friendly machine

Yeah, but maybe you formatted it years ago with NTFS? That’s no problem for other computers, but the snapmaker does not support this filetype.

Just check it with connecting it to your PC, go to workplace, rightclick > properties the drive and have a look for the “file system”. When it is FAT32, then it should be recognized on snapmaker. When there is NTFS, then save all files to local PC drive, format as FAT32 in the properties / format section and copy the files back and try again on snapmaker.

OK, what you describe hints on a broken controller or some other reason that the toolhead is not detected correctly. If you on the touchscreen go to the very start screen (that which says “Make something wonderful”) - are there your components listed with a green dot in front? You should see the 3DP toolhead and the heated bed enlisted as minimum. I daresay that you see an empty list.
If I’m right, check the toolhead cable - is it properly plugged in? Is it plugged into the correct socket on the controller? Perhaps swap the cable (the cables that go to the Y/Z axis splitters should work) and see if the toolhead is detected then.
As long as the toolhead is not properly detected, Snapmaker shows only this workspace-file.

Edit: As an afterthought: If you e.g. connect the CNC toolhead - is that one detected? if so, your 3DP module might be broken.

Hmmm, so I have green dots - 3d toolhead, enclosure, quick swap kit, and heated bed. I can get all my tools recognized, their proper quick swap beds, filament properly loaded ready to go. I think, if I am remembering correctly there was a different screen or menu. I only have make something great and the file menu – NOTHING else. I am thinking the tablet is either not being recognized or it is malfunctioning. I am going to try and do some troubleshooting with the tablet. Everything else is functioning as supposed to. I can control things from my computer to SM – it has to be the tablet. We had traveled with the SM last year to try to have other people help us (as stated above in original post). The connector of the tablet going into SM broke. We ordered a new tablet back in September. I am thinking the tablet is the issue. I had totally forgotten we had to replace the whole thing, not just the cord. I guarantee that is the issue.

thank you for your reply. I completely forgotten we had to replace the tablet – the connector broke on it and had to replace the entire unit. I am betting that is the issue.

Just to clarify, when you say “tablet,” you mean the touchscreen, correct?

Also, with the 3D printing toolhead module attached, the spiral vase is the only one of those Luban main screen models that will show up since it is the only 3D printing model. The rest are for the CNC and laser functions, and will only show up when their respective toolheads are attached.

As @Wyphorn said, the USB drive MUST be in FAT32 format; strongly suggest you verify that. If the format was previously performed from a Windows computer, it likely defaulted to NTFS, so easy to miss.

Have you re-installed the firmware after the touchscreen was replaced? Often times when new components are installed, the firmware must be re-installed/updated in order for the component to be properly recognized by the firmware.

If I don’t say it every time, I am rather quite thankful for the help. My other methods of help did NOT pan out. So, in a heated flurry of emotion I took it to the community. This is where I should have started. So, if it feels that I am NOT thankful – that is not true.

I am VERY THANKFUL TO EVERYONE CHIMING IN.

Yes, the “tablet” is the SM touch screen. It took a long time to go through all the updates – one because we bought new equipment and two we wanted to start off fresh from scratch as like we were setting it up for the first time. You are correct – we just wanted to make sure everything is working and we were starting with the vase and going to move down the line with each toolhead. I wasn’t trying any new files (oh my gosh I can’t even imagine how I would have responded to that, lol).

The USB dongle is ready for use with SM the correct endings are there. This problem has been months in the making – We also purchased new cables for each toolhead, didn’t make a difference. We are able to make everything move with the “tablet” or touchscreen. The only thing missing is the files. File folder is completely empty. It has a menu to reorganize the list, but nothing is there.

All tool heads are seen and in working order and as we change them, they are listed, including all the beds. The green dots tell me it’s ready and in working order.

When you send files over wifi, your touchscreen shows “connected”?
If you sent the file successfully, the screen stays connected and you should be able to start your recently sent file from there.

BTW, how did you update your machine firmware if you are not able to transfer files? (like the firmware?)

How was your update going? - The machine has not to be new started from you, finally it says successfully updated in a final Dialoge.

I guess maybe the firmware update was faulty.

My computer states it’s connected and when I do transfer it is over wifi and they are BOTH on the same network. We updated the firmware through the tablet/touchscreen and got the successful end message. My husband did all the updates using the tablet/touchscreen. I do NOT get a confirmation on the SM side when transferring a file – is it supposed to?? I get one on my computer that states file sent successfully. In fact, I don’t get any response on the table/touchscreen

Touchscreen should confirm, and on the latest FW even show a button to load up the latest received file. From everything you describe, it sounds like your HMI/tablet is broken. Can you start a job from Luban when connected to the Snapmaker with a USB cable? If that works, it’s for sure your HMI.

I do NOT have a USB connection on my computer. I would have to go out and get one. The more I talk about the issues, the more it cements that it is the tablet/touchscreen. If I go and get one, where would I plug that in on the SM??? Is there a USB C to USB??? I could then plug that in where the USB dongle from SM is. Let me see, if we have one of those. If I find one, I will update here. It could take me overnight, my skunk has been having a seizure for over an hour and she has NOT responded to any of her medication – I probably have to take her to the vet and they take a very long time.

Sorry to hear about your skunk, hope the vet can help you soon!

When you have the time: on the printer side there is a mini-USB connector, so you’ll need a USB to mini-USB cable (USB-A or USB-C depending on what you can plug into your computer). On the Snapmaker side, it looks like this:

On the bottom, you see the port you plug your USB dongle/stick into (USB-A). On the right, your HMI/tablet is connected (USB-C port though not USB-C wired, not important for this). On the left, you see the mini-USB port. That’s the port you need to plug your cable into. The cable looks like this (USB-A to mini-USB):

Great!!! Thank you so much. That’s where I was thinking it was. I have USBC on my computer so if I can find one of those – I do believe I have one I can use. Just one question – would it have to be a data cable??? Is there a chance that I’d plug it in and not work, because it isn’t a data cable? I can test it out in one of my cars (it is the reason I am asking, lol).

Indeed it needs to be a data cable; though I suppose most cables you can buy in store will be data cables. If you only have USB-C you could still do:

[PC/Mac] ↔ [USB-C to USB-A adapter] ↔ [USB-A to mini-USB] ↔ [Snapmaker]
(I use this because I have a PC and a MacBook and a bunch of USB-C to USB-A adapters laying around).

But of course, if you find a USB-C to mini-USB cable that will work as well, as long as it has the data pins connected.

Ok, thank you!!! I will try and do this when I get home later – probably an animal short. I think I will have to put her down – she’s been seizing too long for there to be enough brain activity.

I really appreciate everyone’s help.

Sorry about your skunk.

Its a USB Mini-B connector.

Here is the “got file” confirmation dialoge on the hmi:

You can see the last received file and could immediatley print it:

I would suggest to check the storage of the touchscreen device (hmi) with disconnected toolhead, instead with every single toolhead to delete the files on it.
Now you are sure there is space, install the latest firmware again and see if it works.

Good evening!!! It’s been crazy here the last two days. I just got in from Philly. The update on my machine is the tablet/touch screen is defective and waiting for a new one. Once that gets here I am going to need way more help, lol. I really want to use the machine. They are sending it overnight and should be here either today (I didn’t see a post it on the door when I came in) or tomorrow morning. Phew, I was ready to throw it and run over it, lol. I am just glad it wasn’t me. Hope all is well on your end and thank you again.

Kudos to the forum! Getting from “Snap Maker is overrated and over priced and ours is an oversized table decor.” to probable resolution is amazing! Thanks for helping jagmom out! For my part, I find the machine very usable in all three modes. …and FAR less aggravating than the $300 my son bought that really didn’t come ready to use.

Jagmom, I hope your experience improves with the new part.

Glad to hear you figured out the issue. I was going to suggest that you contact support about a faulty touchscreen. I had the same thing happen to me a few months ago. I went to do an update, it froze at the end of the update. I come back the next day and it’s still in the same spot. Power cycled it, and it was never the same again. Functioned and acted like it worked, but I couldn’t get anything done on it.

Good luck!

I would reply to this message, but I think it’s a late April Fool’s Post. Literally works right out of the box. My son was so frustrated that my Snapmaker worked from the jump and years into his Creality, he still hasn’t gotten a great print. Thank you SnapMaker! I LOVE my A350T.

While my issue was resolved with a new tablet — I tried to bring a file over to Luban and couldn’t set up tool paths for each part of the project. I mean if I have to create all of my own projects — this is NOT the machine for me. I want to load and go. Off to buy a glow forge pro. I shouldn’t have to buy a different design program to get what should be ready and available on Luban. It is rather a simple fix like having an ungroup button so ready to go projects load and set tool paths needed to cut and or engrave. Sure, I could buy LightBurn for relatively inexpensive, but what other issues am I going to run into that I am going to need to invest in??? We have decided to go with a tried and true easy, but expensive glow forge. I want a load, set to cut or engrave, and boom away it goes. We can use all the other things like 3d and hopefully CNC (haven’t even tried that yet). I have a pretty good grasp on design programs, so not totally sure what the main issue is that I can’t use the laser program.
