What materials can I use?

Hi,
I just ordered my snapmaker 2.0 and can’t wait to get started. I have some experience with the Glowforge and 3D printing with Makerbot and Dremel. What materials can I etch/engrave with the laser? It says plywood, but what about birch, cherry, maple, etc? I feel the material list I find is likely incomplete. What other materials can I burn? Tiles? Ceramic? I appreciate any information you can give!

Wood (plywood and solid wood) and wood products (paper, card) seem to be the most reliably workable with the laser. Other people have experimented with cloth, leather, plastics, glass, ceramic, etc. with varying degrees of success—search the forum. Laser engraving anything transparent or reflective will require you to coat it with something opaque to make the laser able to focus on it.

There are also a few things you should never put under the laser. For instance, vinyl produces poisonous fumes when lasered.
