Top Cover Seating: Mounting Posts and Silicone Pads
What You May Notice
When installing the U1 Top Cover, you may notice that the four mounting posts underneath the cover do not fully seat in the silicone pads on top of the printer. Pressing down on the cover will seat the posts, but once the pressure is released, the foam may cause the cover to lift slightly, causing the posts to become partially unseated.
The four mounting posts at the corners of the Top Cover fit into the silicone pads on top of the printer. They provide additional positioning and restraint for the Top Cover.
The seating condition does not affect the Top Cover’s core functionality, sealing performance, or safe use. The overall support, positioning, and sealing of the Top Cover do not rely solely on the fit between the four mounting posts and the silicone pads:
- The surrounding edges provide support, positioning, and primary movement restraint, limiting the movement of the Top Cover and keeping it stable.
- The sealing foam on the bottom provides the seal by maintaining sufficient contact with the top of the printer.
Therefore, the Top Cover will remain properly positioned and sealed even if the mounting posts are not fully seated, as long as the surrounding edges are aligned and the Top Cover is correctly installed.
We understand that a closer fit at the mounting posts can help reduce movement when external force is applied. We are currently preparing official connectors to further improve your experience with the Top Cover.
How to Improve
- Official Connectors
We are preparing the tooling and production of the connectors to improve the fit around the four mounting posts in certain cases. Once tooling, testing, and validation are complete, we will provide them free of charge, with shipping costs and any applicable taxes covered by Snapmaker.
The exact availability date will depend on the time needed to complete production and arrange delivery. We are actively working to move the process forward and will share further updates through our official channels.
If you are currently experiencing the seating situation described above, you can fill out this form to register your information. We will contact you based on the information provided once the connectors are ready.
Whether you register in advance will not affect your eligibility to receive the official connectors later. We will notify all users who have purchased the U1 Top Cover through our official channels and provide details on how to receive the connectors. You can then decide whether to request them based on your actual needs.
- Print Files
In the meantime, if you would like to improve the fit around the four mounting posts, you can print and install the mounting post connectors provided by us. These connectors have undergone internal testing and validation and can be used as an interim solution. Once the official connectors are ready, we will arrange shipment to you as soon as possible. The 3MF and G-code files for the connectors, along with installation instructions, are available on the following Wiki page:
