U1 extension cable for the filament feeders

Hey, I was planning on building a diy drying box for the U1 with the original feeders. Therefor I need an extension cable about 30cm long and I was just wondering which kind of connectors were used…
To me it looks like jst gh is the most likely but I dont know for sure

You may have to wait till you receive your machine, then match them, rather than matching them from sight.

I am planning the same extensions. I am waiting for my U1, too, but I am almost sure that it is this connector: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005699355153.html

ok thanks, yes that looks quite promising. If you are interested in buying them earlier too I can tell you if they fit as soon as my printer arrives.

Don’t worry, I have purchased already these connectors.

I can confirm, these connectors are used.

I am searching for extension cables too. Have you already ordered the connectors somewhere? I am planning to order from RS

This ist what I am planning to do: Reddit - The heart of the internet

I did yes and they fit…
However I dont really like the crimps from the aliexpress link viktor sent I would recomend buying precrimped cables and just fiddle them in the connector itself and just solder everything together it is a lot easier and also you have to be quite good at soldering (I am decent at soldering and it took me 5 connectors and 3 hours)

What are the options you need to select? Thanks in advance.

Here is what I got:
-Cable
-15 connector male and female
-precrimped cable
However you probably can get the cables from a cheaper source I just ordered them from amazon so that they arrive sooner. Also if you are able to crimp those connectors yourself you can just get a few cables yourself and the crimps over the same link as the connectors however they are really fiddly…

I will be soon releasing a kit for purchase, that will replace the original cables. Few steps to clear.

The specification is: GH1.25

Not sure if this is allowed but found these premade on ali. I ordered the connectors and used some wiring i already had but didnt enjoy soldering the cables to the female connectors so i ordered a set. They were heat shrinked around the female connectors and work like a charm using the rotating feeder mod.

Edit: fixed the link.

That’s not a proper link…

How long are the cables? Unfortunately, I can’t find any information about this.

They are 20cm. I ordered them. You can also write the seller to only get 2pcs instead of 5. The longest extension cables I could find that go with these are these 1m long ones: https://de.aliexpress.com/item/1005010757575881.html

..But I might have ordered them in the wrong direction, I chose reversed direction.. I still have to check that with a multimeter. I didn’t yet test them because the RFID Antennas are not (easily) extendable past +40cm…. which I’d need for my use case. Only extending the feeders doesn’t make sense for me… but I’ll try the next days just to confirm it’s working. I doubt there will be the same issues with extending rfid antennas.

@trohn_javolta - Yea you definitely wanted same direction not reverse for an extension cable. Looking at that listing I think those cables have male connectors on both ends, which would only suit for replacing the existing cable, not extending it. Let me know if I’m wrong though if you’ve received yours.

Hello everyone,

I would also like to extend my filament feeder with 2x approximately 20cm cables. However, before I order 10 pieces from AliExpress, I wanted to ask if any of you could sell me 2 suitable extension cables. For the sake of sustainability and so on.

Many thanks,
Chris

According to this video there is enough cable to mount the filament feeders on the rear of the U1.

Thank you very much. Very interesting.
However, I’d prefer to work with extension cords, as they can be taken down more quickly in case of sales.
But, everyone to their own taste.
Thanks again to you!
