I just started testing of black PETG. I don’t have it completely dialed in yet, so I’m curious to hear if you have any updated settings for the printer configuration?
My PET-G Filaments require a temperature (on the Snapmaker) of about 230-245°C (depending on layer height) to work propperly.
At the Moment I’m printing with transparent blue PET-G at 235°C (240°C for Initial layer) and 65°C bed temperature with approx. 20 mm/s at layer height 0,15 mm.
But you have to test your Filament for the optimal temperature. It is the key element finding the sweet spot of the Filament (can depend on the colour!!! my White and black PET require about 5°C more).
I’m testing with a 10x10x10mm cube by decreasing from max. temperature in 5 degree steps.
I am having issues with the filament sticking to the nozzle, causing a buildup that can get trapped on the print. Any suggestions on what I should do to stop it? Change temperature? Print speed?
I printed out your spool holder in PETG, but the screw nut will not fit onto the hub. Could this be caused by the issue above?
I found this guide to PETG and I am going to try the suggestion of raising the Z height of the nozzle, so it “almost prints inair”. It seems that if the nozzle is too close to the previous layer, it will drag the plastic and cause blobs. I can raise the Z clearance by calibrating the bed with a thicker paper, and I could also try increasing the layer thickness (currently at 0.15mm)
Hi Jason
The problem with the screw nut is that the tread has a sharp entry (reduced diameter to help with the collaring of the nut). It is a design failure although it is possible to use.
I’m sorry 'cause I didn’t fixed this till now. Also a forgot to add a groove for a seeger-ring so the bearings don’t get out.
I’ll do a new updated version in the next few days (will provide the files on Thingiverse.com later).
Sorry but I didn’t thought that anybody will print my design.
Yes, Z height has to be increased for the first layer.
I made some comments in the Troubleshooting area Link.
