FIrst of all thanks to those who came to my help in resolving my WFI connectivity issues, much apprecaited.
Now, as you may know, I am an absolute rookie and I downloaded the Snapmaker Accessories Storage Box files form Thingiverse but the files are STL and so how do I get them into luban, or convert them to gcode then upload to Luban for prinitng?
STL files are the 3D source files that contain the information about the object.
Gcode is the instructions to the machine to tell it what to do.
To get from one to the other in order to 3d print you need to use a slicer. Luban is the basic slicer that SM provides. (Cura, Prusaslicer & simplify3d are some others).
Luban has 4 areas:
The workspace: this is where g-code is loaded and you connect to the SM and send files and give commands.
Then there are 3 tabs, one for 3d, one for cnc, and one for laser.
For 3d select the icon on the left that looks like a cube and drag your stl there. After you choose your settings you generate g-code and then load that g-code to the workspace.
From there you can send the g-code to your SM (recommended) or run it from the workspace. You can also save it to a usb drive and load onto the SM.
Before you try to print anything big you need to print a test object. Calibration cube or benchy are the most common. Since you found the other’s on thingiverse I assume you know how to find them there too
this is the same as the book that came with the machine but it had some updates to it. for this you can probably just use your printed copy if you want
I read the manual and when it gets to the gcode part it just says prepare
your gcode it does not tell you how to import an STL firle get it into
Luban and generate a gcode. But I got another email explainging hoe to do
that and I had some success.
