Supports on Build Plate Only

Hi - where is the option to have supports on the Build Plate Only in the latest version of Luban?

I have a fairly simple model that needs some support on the base but it also has a ‘honeycomb’ type structure further up the model and Luban is trying to fill every honeycomb hole with support material, which would take hours to remove. I know from experience the honeycomb prints fine without support.

I have seen reference to a ‘Support Placement’ option in older versions but this is not present in the latest version.

How can I acheive the same effect now?

My mistake. You have to have the correct extruder selected (the one assigned to support duty) for the option to appear.

I can’t see any option that lets me select an extruder. How is this done when you have a single extrusion print head?

Maybe because the user has the dual print extruder module? :smirk:
For me the option is visible in Luban

Then how do I choose to have the supports be build plate only? From what I understood you have pick the correct extruder…

"In Snapmaker Luban, the option to specify supports to print only on the build plate or everywhere is available, but it can be a bit hidden in the interface. If you’re using a single extrusion print head and want to set supports to only print on the build plate, you should be able to do so by adjusting the support settings.

Here’s a general guide on how to access and set this option:

  1. Open your model in Snapmaker Luban.
  2. Click on the gear icon to open the printing settings pop-up.
  3. Ensure that automatic support is toggled on; this will reveal additional support options.
  4. Look for the Support Placement option, which allows you to choose between having supports everywhere or just touching the build plate.

If you’re having trouble finding this option, make sure that you have the correct extruder selected—the one assigned to support duty—as the option may not appear if the wrong extruder is selected12."
