That doesn’t make sense you say it runs independently like if it was connected thru usb yet usb means it’s not running independently.
USB flash drive, not usb serial.
You mind showing me how you go from Lightburn to running it independently (remotely) with it only framing the engraving portion when running boundary.
I don’t frame my projects. I mathematically lay it out first and just start it.
Why do you mean mathematically lay it out?
I made a fully repeatable origin, so I know exactly where the object is, and use math to lay out my engraving. This allows me a high level of accuracy vs the framing/estimating way Snapmaker wants.
Could you show me that?
What page?
First post is the guide to make a repeatable origin. Once you know that and place your object accordingly, you’ll know where it is and can lay out your projects without framing or the camera. Example; if you know exactly where 0,0 is, make a jig similar to the guide, then when engraving say a square of wood, you can draw a non-output square the same size as your material in Lightburn, then center your project to that square, and that’s exactly how it’ll lay on your material after engraving.
Similar to this:
The gray box represents the size of what I’m engraving, so I can perfectly drop my engraving in the center of it. With the origin in my guide, I know that I can just slap my material into that corner, input the thickness, and send the file to the snapmaker and know with confidence, it’s correct.
That’s sweet, thanks for sharing.
I’m not sure why but my Snapmaker engraving thinks my origin (10,10) point from the origin is actually (-4,13) why is that? That has nothing to do with Snapmaker touchscreen like your walk thru. How can I fix this?
If it’s ok, could I have your phone number? I think this would be easier solved on a call.
I really need to know the outline of only what I’m engraving so I know where it will engrave.
Yeah it looks like the (0,0) origin in Lightburn is (-4,13) for my machine and I don’t know what to do.
Plz help me when you get a chance.
You there?
That means you need to set an offset. In your header for Lightburn put
G28
G92 X4 Y-13
This will home the machine, then offset your 0,0 in the program to match 0,0 on the machine.
Ok my only other question that I don’t know if you answered is how do I get the laser to outline the image or whatever files instead of the whole work surface. This is in the case of using a flash-drive not directly from Lightburn thru usb.
Using the usb drive, no. The snapmaker cannot interpret the bounds from a lightburn file. That’s why it circles the entire plate.
