Anyone have experience with cutting leather with the laser?
I’m hoping to make small leather dice cups… I understand that the maximum recommended thickness is 0.6mm, or 1.5 oz, but I imagine that some varieties might be soft enough to cut or at least score.
If you can recommend any particular source or advice, it would be appreciated.
There’s been some people doing leather projects, but they didn’t post their settings. I’d suggest doing a bunch of small tests to determine the darkness you want and also how many passes would be required.
Just as a starting point, blind guess, for cutting: 100mm/min, 100% power, 4 passes, .2mm step down?
If it cuts through faster, drop the number of passes. If it doesn’t cut through, more passes with small step down. If it burns, more passes at a faster speed.
