Just recently (most likely after an update of the Luban Software, or Snapmaker 2.0 hardware, for which I am now on the latest) my prints stop extruding in the middel of my print process (sometimes after a day) which is leaving me quite frustrated, especially due to the lack of support causing me to buy all spare parts of the print head, but even after installing them; same result.
Falling back to AI indicating that the Retraction Distance of the PLA Material should not exceed 1.0 mm. When checking in my Luban, I found out that all PLA Material is set to 5mm (?!) assuming that my settings were set to Bowden (whatever that means) . Now, what should it be? And might this be the cause of my problem?
I am close to throwing the device out of the window and switch to a Bambu Lab if this continues to go on like that.
Here is something to read and to learn:
What’s your filament?
What’s your toolhead?
What’s your print settings? Speed, Temperature, layer height?
I was using 1mm retraction at 45mm/s on the single extruder.
Was your filament grinded as shown in the linked post?
Or is it tangled on the spool?
Did you hear clicking sounds from the extruder gear?
Non of this has to do with filament, toolhead (not sure what you mean by that, I use the original 3D printing tool head). I asked AI and it told me it had likely to do with retraction length. It should be no more than 1mm recommended 0.8mm. All my trouble was likely cause due to a software update setting this setting to 5mm (!?!) butI got no idea why support (Leonard) tells me this was likely not the case, after he made me buy all parts seperately to no avail. Last night I perfectly printed my piece with retraction length of 0.8mm and all printed fine. Leonard told me that the Orca default was 0.8, but fresh install gives me 2mm. I reinstalled Luban but still 5mm. I hope this serves others as well. It left me quite frustrated, and especially the lack of decent support is really sad.
There is a dual extruder possible as well..
Glad you found a solution.
I am having a similar problem with the 2.0 A350 dual extruder and a new spool of Ultimaker Silk PLA at 220° on a 60° bed. After about a half an hour the feed gear stops advancing the filament into the hot end. Using Luban 4.15.0, my Retraction Minimum Travel is 0.8mm.
This just started about a month ago with the new filament. I may also have had a bad toolhead cable but I just replaced it. I still notice the display seemingly losing contact with the toolhead.
Right now I’m going back to a known successful filament (also not 1kg worth on the spool!) but would appreciate any other things to try, like disabling retraction entirely?
A high retraction can sometimes cause a clog, but at 0.8mm retraction its probably something else (Ive used 40mm with no problems).
When it stops extruding, do you know if the extruder gear is still spinning? That would help narrow down the cause.
