I’m having an issue with my Snapmaker j1s. I just finished a 30 hour print and it went perfectly and now I want to do a much smaller, 3 hour print and it just refuses to do it. I’ve tried recalibrating everything. I’ll post a picture of the issue but the basic thing is that it prints in some spots and then not in others then it stops, claiming I’m either out of filament or the nozzle is clogged. I the. Try loading it and the extrusion speed is all over the place; sometimes it comes out slowly other times quickly even though the speed is set to 100%. But there is clearly no clog in the nozzle and I just set the bed height so that shouldn’t be an issue. But I have found that the gears that load the filament aren’t gripping it very well but I can’t seem to make them grip any tighter. Can someone please help? I’m trying to print a gift for my sister and this is the last piece.
What are you trying to show in this picture? I see what it is but not clear what to look at.
And if the extrusion is all over the place, they suggests there might be a partial clog that needs flushing. Or you can check the Snapmaker wiki on how to clean the extruder gears.
Sorry, not clear to me what’s going on here.
Refusing? You get a message?
So that’s the answer for it refusing?
No it turns out the printing bed wasn’t level so it would clog being to close to the printer bed. I’m still quite new to printing I don’t know how to troubleshoot.
I think you still need to try leveling the printing bed, and then you can try adjusting the tension of the idler. Firstly, loosen the idler gear, feed in the consumables and tighten them until they stop sliding. Consumables with different diameters may need to be fine tuned to ensure that the gears can firmly clamp the consumables. I have encountered similar problems when printing with PETG before, but only because the nozzle was blocked, hope can help you~

Extruder idler? The J1 extruder doesn’t have idler adjustment?
