Print Lighting Bar without enclosure

Hi Makers! I though this could be interesting for some of you that don’t own an enclosure and still want to have a lighted print surface. I simply don’t have the space for the enclosure to sit inside this little corner of my room.

I created this lightning bar with two 15cm long 24V cold white naked LED Strips that I soldered to an Rotary extension cable & plugged it into one of the accessory ports of the CAN Hub (yes it works right away). I wanted it to be glue-less so it doesn’t get loose when the Plate gets hot or collects any dust from milling. The Strip gets slided into the bar and gets hold by two Sidepieces & Snapmaker screws.

Before I can release this the bar needs some rework since it’s shining straight down and the Module blocks light at the Nozzle. I want to do a V2 with a slight angle, maybe a riser as well as a cable strains relief (I simply used tape and haven’t fixed it yet).

Would this be something you guys are interested in? Is this something you would pay some small amount on Cults3D?

Hi Makers!
I finally decided to PRE-release the Lightbar files for this nice mod.
Changes:

  1. 20deg Angle to have a better hotend visiblity (Print Head shadow is slightly better)
  2. I made some wide recess to make it possible to screw and unscrew the Toolhead better. On my first version it was needed to bend the bar little

For the other side of the bar- please mirror the part. In the middle you need an M3 thread rod and four M3-Thread Inserts as well as two M4x8 or M4x10 Screws per side for the attachment points.

I plan to have some cable strain relief somewhere on the right side.

Feel free to give any feedback or ask questions! Happy making
