I’ve had my U1 for a week now and there are a couple things that are bugging me.
The video feed going to sleep, needs to be woke up every so often. Effects the camera in Fluidd too. Makes it a real pain when checking progress from somewhere else in the house.
The filament management seems somewhat unpolished. There is no button in Snorca to sync the filament with the printer.
Really liking putting on a spool of Snapmaker filament with RFID & it just know what to do.
Okay now for the question. I understand that Paxx12 Extended Firmware will fix some of these issues, such as the camera plus RFID OpenSpool support. Other than possibly warranty issues is there any drawbacks to using it?
THIS!!! Annoys me so much… Especially when opening a multi-plate project file that was not done on the U1. It adds the machine it was designed for regardless if I have it or not, erases my spool presets and then doesn’t let me add them.
I have to re-save the project under the U1 and totally reload Snorca to be able to see my loaded spools… Its janky and stupid.
I have been asking for a sync button for awhile now.
Love this printer! Hate Snorca…
This doesn’t solve the bigger issue as outlined above. A sync button needs to be added… Its not hard.
Guys, when you have read posts from Snapmaker over the past weeks (months), you will have noted that they know of things that need to be added etc pp. This system is still in the final stage of being delivered (hardware) and software will be worked on concurrently. Just give it time. With regard to filament management, it was mentioned already that the printer needs to be connected and you can easily set up the filament in Snorca.
With ref to “It adds the machine it was designed for regardless if I have it or not, erases my spool presets and then doesn’t let me add them.” this is the drawback when using makerword or printables as a database. They will want the files stored in their system to be aligned to their printers. And no others. When you download a .3mf file, import same as a project, it will show e.g. the X1 as the printer, with some error messages, but these will disappear when you alter the printer to U1. Colors need to be adjusted of course. The files will bring it own color config.
I understand a .3mf is different than a .stl, however when I load a .3mf project and change the project to my U1, the filament I have loaded on my U1 should be available to be selected for the project. Snorca stops reading the filament I have loaded and forces me to save the project under the U1 and then restart Snorca to get my filament back.
I’d love it if someone else tried this, maybe its just me?
Just tried here as well. With two different 3mf files. See the screener here. first, my U1 colors, second after having opened the 3mf as a project (this is important, don’t “import”, but open as project), see the different colors, then simply switch to the U1 printer again and the origi nal colors are back.
As a long user of snapmaker products and software: do not expect much software changes from now on. That they are aware of things will not result in implementation. Just shortly from my experience.
Yep, this did not work for me. I am on the latest version of official Snorca…
Open Project…
Misc (project) Bambu Printer is loaded…
File loads with multiple plates as it should…
Rando filament from the project appear…
Click Printer to select my U1…
My loaded filament on the U1 is not selectable or listed in the tabs…
I have to save the project under the U1 then restart Snorca to get my filament back.
A simple “sync” button would work wonders here. I tried multiple projects as well and never use the “import” button. Not sure why yours is different or where the disconnect is.
This post made a left turn, I was stating why I was thinking of going to the Paxx12 Extended firmware & was looking for feedback from those that have went that route. Maybe I could have worded the original post better.
It works for me, but snorka must be connected to the printer! This is required to fetch the CURRENT filaments. THEN I can find them in the selection. If necessary, reconnect again.
From my current understanding, slicer optimization is ongoing. Due to the large volume of previously collected feature requests, the schedule is quite packed.
Yea that’s why my only option is to restart Snorca, but I have to save the project as a U1 project first. Its just an annoying extra step that apparently other people don’t have.
I just mean it switches my printer to the random bambu printer that is part of the profile, it replaces my filament with the profile filament. When I change my printer back to the U1 my loaded filament is gone and can’t be selected. I have to save the project as a U1 file then restart Snorca to get my filament back.
