How to load multicolor easily with Snapmaker Orca on the U1

So I apologize ahead of time for the folks that don’t like these threads… But I have a likely simple question that I can’t find the answer too…

The U1 is my first printer not running Bambu Studio, in Bambu Studio there is a button that syncs the filament from the machine. Snapmaker Orca doesn’t do this right?

I have to load the colors from the printer into Snapmaker Orca manually?

Right click the preset, edit the preset to be the filament from the printer and that’s it?

It seems easy enough but I’m spoiled… It would be nice to have a simple “sync” button.

Already sent to the software team for requirement evaluation!:+1:

You are awesome! Thank you sir! :star_struck:

Hi

If your U1 appears as connected on Device Tab:

When you go to Prepare Tab you can see the filament loaded onto the U1

Thank you very much! I just found this out… I’m telling you I was spoiled by the sync button, and totally missed the simple drop down option. Simple indeed!

This is when I appreciate other people’s questions as I. Missed this as well.

Agreed on the Sync button… I’d love to see that integrated, as I spent some time looking at Snorca for it! Glad you asked about it here :sign_of_the_horns: :sign_of_the_horns:

Right! I know Bambu Studio likes to get bashed by the Orca purists out there, but it has some great features like that “sync” button. I hope we get it for Snorca too.

Will I use my P1S as much as I used to? NOPE! Do I still love it? Yep! I just can’t stand the AMS system in general.

That said, I’m not gonna start bashing the entire Bambu ecosystem… it’s quite possible they’re been doing this long enough to have some good ideas and implementations :sign_of_the_horns::sign_of_the_horns:

Same! My A1 and A1 Mini are now single color, I removed their AMS and the U1 does all my multicolor now. Good times!

Thank you so much for telling the feature is available in SnOrca. I have the custom firmware and using its RFID identidication feature. Seems the sync doesn’t work very well. Only Snapmaker filaments are sync, those open sourced ones don’t.

You have to create profiles for each custom vendor.

So, if your filament is Jayo Basic PLA you need to have filament profile named: Jayo PLA Basic.

Thank you so much for your reply. I try both using Generic system profile, for example, Generic PLA (maybe in NFC tag, we assign PLA Basic, and custom filament profile. Both doesn’t work for the RFID tag spools except for those I inputed in the machine.

Like other vendors, the official firmware only recognizes Snapmaker NFC tags, but I’ve been told the upcoming open-source build will almost certainly open up third-party/custom filament e-label support. Once it’s open you should be able to use your own NFC stickers to manage personal spools.

Here’s a great video for this

has you actually tested if it fully unlocks the third-party RFID support yet? I’ve got a mountain of generic PLA I’d love to slap tags on, but I’m not sure if I need to flash the custom firmware or if the official one handles it now?
