Orca for Artisan Dual Extruder: The second extruder stopped in the middle of the job

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with the dual extruder print. I am trying to print a block with text. (See image.) I normally use Luban for my prints, but when I tried to create the g-code, some of the letters were cut off, and I couldn’t figure out why. I tried Orca; the preview was good, but the print, as you can see in the picture, was not. It seems that the second extruder stopped in the middle of the job. I printed it twice, but the result was the same. Any idea why?

You printed it twice in two print jobs or twice in the same job?

Hi,

I printed twice in two print jobs.

here the preview in luban and in Orca

Luban :The line between the text and the “box” is not sharp, and sometimes the T is cut off.

in Orca the preview is really clean

I will try printing it from Luban, but it would still be interesting to know why the second extruder stopped in the middle. I also noticed that Orca changed the depth of the Text slightly. In 3D, the depth is two millimeters in Orca is greater.

Text in 3D

Text in Orca

It’s quite tiny pieces with the grey colour.
I think you get heat creep which leads to a clog.

I would try to prevent it by increasing the prime tower size.
Playing around with standby or print temperature or tool change retraction could also help.

What filament do you use?

I changed the bobbin, putting white on the second extruder and gold on the first, and it worked, but the prime tower was a mess, so some filament got stuck in the 3D-printed model. I also changed the material in Orca, so the settings for each filament were the same as for the other prints. I don’t know why it worked. I will try increasing the prime tower.

I did it with Orca because I tried with Luban and it was even worse. The text didn’t print at all.

I use PLA
Kexcelled Metalique pla Bronze
Formfutura White
