New Artisan - bugs bugs bugs - Haven't been able to complete a job successfully yet

Hi,

I joined this forum to share my problems thinking they would be rare, but it looks like there are so many problems with this product :frowning:

My list of issues so far (I’ve had the machine assembled for about 12 hours) I’m on the latest firmware and latest Luban:

  • Confusing messages on controller when connecting Luban via WiFi - Luban says to accept the connection on the Controller but on the Controller the only button that shows is one that says ‘Disconnect’
  • Random crashes of the controller with an error in Chinese and ‘A400’ in the text. 3 times now.
  • Workflow error in Luban as if the machine is not connected you cannot add a background image to a Laser project, but in order to connect the machine you have to go to the export step, then back.
  • Auto Camera calibration of the Laser is failing, or not getting stored (or if it is, it’s not shared with Luban as when trying to use the background image function the image is WAY distorted). Despite this the machine says the calibration is successful every time.
  • Trying to manually calibrate the camera is impossible as the image is washed out - you can’t see the lines. The calibration image shown is not the most recent (in this case it was from about 3 auto-calibrations ago).
  • Zero guidance or instructions about how to set the laser X/Y origin point on the Artisan - messed up my first basa wood project because of this. How do you align the laser start point on the work piece?
  • No explanation of what the white plastic ‘Calibration Target’ is for. Is it just to set the 10mm height of the laser in the Z-axis? If so, why does it have the square printed on it and some text about the red dot being in the marked area?

Hoping some of you can help me here, I haven’t been able to complete a single piece!

Thanks

I’ve tried the camera calibration with both the enclosure lights on and off.

With them on, the image is too washed out, the auto-calibration fails and it’s impossible to do manually.
With them off, the image is too dark, the auto-calibration fails and the lines are barely visible, but just enough to do it manually.

This is piss poor.

Hope this helps:

There should be a Luban guide.

You could search the forum about lightburn if you are ready for the next step (i never used it, but it has a good reputation in the forum)

Hi thanks for the link but I don’t see where it covers any of the issues I raised?

All it says on the Camera Calibration is that if the image capture fails then repeat the calibration. I am repeating the calibration many times and it still fails.
