Laser work speeds

So I’m etching borosilicate glass with the laser. That’s all going good, subject of another post, and I’m experimenting with settings. I’ve tried 20mm/sec, 100mm/sec, 400mm/sec and now 1600mm/sec but I don’t think it’s really running 80 times faster than the first try… Something’s lying to me.

What would be slowing it down?

Does ist run with higher values not faster at all or only a little bit faster?

Laser limits speed itself

So others have reported laser dropout at high speeds, however mine seem to limit the speed itself… I have tried to run a few greyscale-images now with different speed setting, without any visible image difference. First, I made a calibration card to get a feeling for what speeds and power settings could make good results (see attached and ignore my handwriting). Based on the calibration cards I figured somewhere between 30-40mm/s (1800-2400 mm/min) would be decent and save a lot of time. Going…

I just ran a graphic at 3200mm/min (sorry, I misread it, all the prev settings were in mm/min) Seems no difference in print quality. Going to try some runs at lower power now.
