Lan mode and VLANs

Has anyone tried to use LAN mode across VLANs? In particular, which ports need to be opened up to communicate to a U1 on a separate VLAN to the PC/phone?

I’m not expecting my U1 until March :sob: but and trying to think of any issues before they occur.

The way it implemented I would expect some rough ride. I have issues having just on a separate ssid with cross network traffic allowed.
The discovery is regular mdns.

AFAIK just port 80 because that’s the only port that’s open on the printer.
Have you noticed any problems?

It needs mdns to connect? That’s just for autodiscovery but you can still enter printer’s ip and it works, no? At least it did for me. I think.

Yeah, mdns is just for discovery, so it would need 5353.
All though I always wanted to get Wireshark going to see what actually happens. But I can’t find tim e for this.

As far as problems, snorca 2.1.1 is considering router ip to bind instead of actual printer IP. At least in my setup. We’ve run some tests with Snapmaker staff, to figure this out but I don’t think it was fixed yet.

Thanks @horza and @nweolu . As I say, I won’t get my U1 until March so will have a play then. I don’t care about auto discovery so I’ll just play with opening port 80 with reply enabled. Failing that, I’ll have to dust off Wireshark.

Maybe @unlucio has some experience with this? I recall him being tripped up by his custom network.

U1 Video Guide: Initial Setup & P

The answer you need is in the video released yesterday!!

3:27

I skimmed through the video and didn’t notice any technical details related to the networking of U1.
It just shows pairing of the device…

Then I might have misunderstood.

Remember to enable LAN on the U1 menu else you won’t see it. I’m using it in multi-vlan env and no issues.

My expirience, I wanted to try lan mode to see if maybe the live feed will be better (spoiler: its not)
I have IOT wifi and my wifi, from my wifi i have full access to the IOT wifi, IOT wifi can reach the internet but not my wifi,
I couldn’t bind the printer from my wifi to the iot wifi even though i have full access andi put in manually the correct ip and all,
I switch my PC to the IOT wifi and managed to bind.
After it was binded i was able to manage the printer on the IOT wifi from my other wifi.

Then you do not have full access from one net to the other

I have a similar WiFi infrastructure and was able to bind the u1 to Orca without switching the net.

@Simon_Zhi - maybe the original poster is looking for a list of network ports that need to be open on the router, like this list on the Bambu Lab Wiki: https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/general/printer-network-ports Adding a list of ports to the Snapmaker Wiki would be very helpful to school districts to consider purchasing the Snapmaker U1.
