Very often my U1 is unreachable over the network (from Firefox and (Sn)Orca slicer). I have it connected to wifi in LAN mode with a fixed IP address configured in my Unifi setup. Even when it is unreachable, it seems to be connected to the wifi in the Unifi client list with a wifi experience of 100%.
When I force the printer to reconnect to wifi (through the Unifi UI) it works again. Until it doesn’t a couple hours later…
I have updated to firmware 1.2.0 - same issue with the previous 1.1.1.
Try connecting it directly to your WiFi router. That is the way I have my U1 (lan mode) the only time I need to reconnect to it with Snorca is when I power the printer off then back on. I go to devices & tell Snorca to connect.
Wired is always better than wireless, IMO. Wireless should only be used for portable devices, anything in a fixed location should be wired. Not doing so is laziness.
Just an update for the lazy people out there, who want to use wifi
I suspected the fallouts were related to the U1 roaming between two of my access points (AP’s) and verified by locking the U1 to one AP. I did a bit of cleaning up of my Unifi setup (specifically removed 2,4 GHz from a central Wifi 7 AP to let two older AP’s run the 2,4 GHz network without interference) to address the underlying issue at the source.
This makes my wifi much better in general and my U1 stays on the same AP now without being locked to it. Connectivity has been rock solid since.
