Did some searching and did not find much on the subject if anyone has a link that would help. I see requests for the 2.0 but not the J1s.
After finishing a print on my J1s I need to remove the USB stick to add more items to print. Problem is I don’t see an eject/unmount function and 50% of the time when I pull the USB out and connect it to my computer the drive is corrupted and needs to be repaired.
How do you unmount the USB on the J1s safely without causing this. Apparently the file is still open and causes the error that the drive is corrupted.
I do not use WiFi and prefer to keep it USB until I get it connected with Octoprint.
I get that just about every time on my SM2. Multiple usb drives using Win11with automatic file drive open on attaching it to the computer. I’ve gotten to where I ignore it and haven’t had a problem. If you turn off the automatic drive open, it behaves, you just have to open the drive manually.
Well now, I may have spoke prematurely. I’ve now had my 2nd USB die. This was the original SM USB that is ~3 years old. The first was a 10 year old no-name cheap one. That one didn’t bother me. The SM USB gave an error, so I reformatted and tried again. Win11 saw it and wrote to it. SM didn’t like it and crashed the app. Then Win11 couldn’t revive it. So… take my last post with a grain of caution.
Well my J1s will finish a print and if I pull the USB before power down will corrupt the directory/file store…… take it to my PC and it requires to be scanned and fixed to use…… I’m also seeing Luban leaving COM open status so once I’ve used a STL it’s locked open and if I edit in Fusion 360 it cannot rewrite the file as it’s stuck open still from LuBAN
Checking in on this topic as it still happens on my J1S. Not every time but random and still happens. Why can’t we get an eject function like every other device to remove the USB stick. Just crazy. Wonder if the U1 will have the same issue?
