How can I edit a design more accurately in Luban ?
With the desktop only having grid lines for every 10 mm it is impossible to make any accurate designs.
How can I enable a finer grid for my designs ?
Laser? CNC? 3D?
What are you trying to do?

My recommendation is to not use luban to design anything. I have not tried to change the grid size but I will look into it.
Yes, agreed. I don’t know either. I cannot see any obvious place to change the size of the grid. As far as I can tell, the grid size only changes with the machine setting in preferences. Incidentally, preferences does not open them from the menu bar on the Mac or with command and comma. [⌘,] Luban does not close on pressing the save button. It will only open from the bottom left hand corner of Luban with the gear wheels. The window gives no indication that the setting was changed and the window does not close. I can confirm that this is only way to change the grid to reflect the machine bed size… but that is it.
Once again, the software is barely functional. @Rainie, @hyeii, @parachvte, @JKC20, @Edwin. Please guys, the software is really poor. It needs scrapping and something else needs to be done… rewrite it or buy it in. Your newest membership are having trouble changing grid sizes so that they can work with higher resolutions. Can you please not make any more excuses and tell us you know about it and the software will be improved.
Luban is very poorly written and you are being unfair to your new users when you don’t inform them that the software will waste more of their time than is desirable, if they should attempt to use it. It is merely beta software at best and alpha software at worst. The team needs to get together and decide how long this situation should be permitted to persist. I have been using my machine since March 2020. The software is no different in its concept and its failure to do simple things easily or at all. I am sorry to be the bringer of bad news but when you look at the forum columns, if you can be brutally honest with yourselves, you can see where Luban is the root cause of many of the enquiries.
It appears to be impossible in Luban. If you are doing CNC work, you can change to Carbide Create and adjust the grid. If you are doing laser work you can Change to Lightburn and adjust the grid.
I agree with @jepho. It seems to be impossible.
I was trying to cut the sample gift box with the laser module, but the size that is loaded when using the sample option is WAY too small, so I was trying to figure out what multiplier to scale with by checking the depth of the notches, but without a finer grid that is practically impossible.
Btw, does anybody know what scaling factor to use ?
Is there a way to export the samples to files that can be manipulated in Lightburn or other 3rd party SW ?
At this time to my knowledge there is no single piece of software that has the ability to support all three modules.
I’ve been looking at FreeCAD as a possibility, but that is not yet a reality and even if it does come to fruition, the learning curve is steep in comparison to Luban.
Luban is open source, it has a GitHub repo with an issue tracker.

I noticed that there doesn’t appear to be an issue ticket reporting the problem with a grid.
I just created a ticket for the missing grid adjustments.
