Not that I really need a new hobby project, but I’m curious if you have any cool ideas on what to do with the original linear modules once you upgrade to the new, silent ones. It feels like a waste to just throw them away. Any thoughts?
Sell them I’ve bought a set as backup and to try out a few modifications, so perhaps others are interested also. I did not opt for the new modules, despite the 50% coupon: I do not care about the noise, and the other changes are not relevant for me either - I even think that for milling the new modules might be inferior to the old ones. That said: Perhaps keep them if you plan to try heavy CNC milling at some point - the old modules will most likely have more power.
Definitely don’t throw them out.
I’m looking for a set as backup.
For what model?

Try setting up some alternative configs? Plugging in just the x and one y rails (maybe you’d need to do the rest for the firmware to be happy) should let you build this funky bedless laser engraver setup.
The marketing material on the og also had some other funky ideas:
Delta mode!
Super CNC mode!
The largest, for A350. I’ll save them for idle days - only a few years left to retirement.
Hmmm… a CNC thing would definitely adorn my man-cave.
I’m hoping Snapmaker will make the base parts available for purchase, then build another machine.
I believe I have all components needed minus a power supply and the puece Y connector for the Y axis to make a Snapmaker ray type configuration. Would love to know if this sort of thing is possible as I have plenty of spare parts laying around for this!
