IceSL - slicer with some nice features

There was a post in SM.20 FB group about this slicer. I never heard of it, checked the features and they seem to be too good to be true

Check this out - Features

The Printer profiles are relatively easy to create,

I want to try and find time to port Prusa profile by @macdylan into this thing and try printing a wing.

So it looks like it can do +/-Z movement during extrusion. Can other slicers do this? I have only really used Luban.

I haven’t seen non - planar movements in any mainstream slicers. There is a limit to how deep you can go, based on extruder configuration. So in snapmaker the angles will be pretty shallow.

Yes, now you mention it, I can see it will be dependant on the angle from the nozzle to the surrounding housing.

I tried a similar project years ago but it was not developed any more.

The slicer was called “slic3r” and was only Linux compatible (if I remember correctly), so poking around in a vm to get it ready…

My main problem was the heat control of the all metal telescope hotend.
Over all, it is nice to can do this but is no mainstream feature to use every time.

Thanks for sharing!

Slic3r is the original base slicer that PrusaSlicer, SuperSlicer, Bambu Studios, OrcaSlicer, and Snapmaker Orca are all branches of. Non-planar printing has not been implemented for any of them; haven’t heard why, but I assume it’s just too complex and too specific of a user base to be worth the time/effort to code into them.

If I’d still be in RC planes hobby - the non planar printing would be the only thing I cared about
