How to use my own printing head?

I wanna modify my snapmaker 2.0 F350 printer, mainly modifited about printing head. Aiming to rebuild the FDM printer to DIW printer by using my printing head like a injector driven by gas pump. But without official printing head, it doesn’t work. How to work with own printing head on snapmaker 2.0 F350 printer?

Hi @a1mos4,

one possible approach would be: Find someone with a mechanically broken head with intact electronics, salvage the PCB and (ab)use it for your puposes. The hard way: Write your own head firmware (should be possible, but steep learning curve I suppose).

The 2.0 tool heads use a CAN bus. There are many articles on the forums exploring existing and new tool heads. Searching for “can bus” on the forums, this is probably a good place to start: Snapmaker2-Controller Hardware Connection
Poking around in CAN Bus

It looks like somebody attempted a solder dispenser for 2.0. There are a lot of good links in the comments.

If I were doing this today, I’d start with Duet 3 Toolboard 1LC. It’s a small board with CAN designed for incorporation into tool heads. Disclaimer: I haven’t tested that it integrates with SM2.
