Heated bed ruby nozzle damage

Has anyone had issues using a ruby nozzle?

I’ve just scratched my heated bed quite badly with a ruby nozzle as it pushed the flexible bed off. It’s the right size at MK8 M6 but the ruby bit struck out a mm from the nickel part of the nozzle. The auto calibration didn’t work even-though I adjusted the fit manually at the end of the cycle. Also I thought all the parts would be for sale but I can’t see how much a replacement heated bed would cost. At least I know the ruby is real.

Also is there a fully manual mode for levelling?

There is a manual calibration method, yeah. i think youll have to search the forum i have never did it.

if the overall length of the nozzle is different than the stock nozzle than you would definately want to manually calibrate, or come up with a mod to compensate. the prox sensor probably doesnt have 1mm of adjustment to be able to overcome that.

you can buy replacement parts that arent listed by contactiing support@snapmaker.com but i dont have a concept of what that particular part would cost.

i know the 3dp module is about 115 and a linear module is 145, so i would recon its probably 100 bucks or so.

note that chinese new year rapidly approaches so you’re gonna wana put that message in ASAP or you’ll be waiting a month. make sure you tell them the size of your machine, your address, phone number and backer number/order number in the initial email to save a step and potentially miss the deadline.

support can take days to reply (when they are doing good…) it used to be weeks.

Keep in mind that they are based in China, near Hong Kong, and they work in the +8 timezone. Depending on where you live, it’s unlikely that your idea of business hours will align with their idea of business hours.

I am not aware of anyplace in the world where there is a 3 week time difference. I acknowledge that they might take a couple of days.

My last communication with them took from 12/22 to 1/7. However, I had 1-2 day turnarounds for a little bit there.

Chinese New Year is rapidly approaching (officially Feb. 12) which will shut them down completely for 2 weeks (at a bare minimum) and then they will be even more backed up for another month or two. A good deal of production will cease even earlier than that. Full production will be back mid-late March.

I am hoping they stop jerking me around on this latest issue before the shutdown.

I am not even going to bring up the woodpecker sound my machine is doing right now in hopes they don’t get distracted from the fact that I have two additional linear modules that are failing, from which they told me to use the two spares I bought and stop using the old ones as opposed to providing a warranty replacement.

Thank you, I did send a message but was probably not clear that I needed the heated bed underneath to be replaced and got a link to the magnetic print bed and a link to the calibration test. Sent another message to support, hopefully this one is clearer as sent with a photograph of the damage.

Did you ever get a response or a price from them? I’m in the same boat and need a new one and I’ve yet to get a response.

I think it was 65 bucks…not crazy, but I ordered through support.
