Has anyone been able to print a .05 mm layer thickness

I am thinking on printing guitar picks
The thinner I can print the layers. The better the pick will come out.

I’ve printed a heap of picks 1.12mm thickness at 0.12mm layer…anything smaller started giving issues when printing and ironing. I have a friend who teaches guitar and through trial and error we found 1.12mm was closest to the Fender picks he uses and had a sweet spot for flexibility and durability. Printed in PCTG on a smooth plate, with ironing on top layer to match the smooth layer as closely as possible. A bit of a ramble but thought I’d share…it was a fun experiment.

How about using smaller nozzles?

This post doesn’t list a category, so I don’t know which machine you have. I’m guessing a U1 based on all the recent announcement.

I have an Original, and I print as low as 0.04mm. I have also printed 0.05mm on it.

The Original doesn’t self calibrate, so I spent a looong time dialing in my calibration to get those very thin layers printing. Now that it’s done, I use a 0.04mm thick square as my calibration test. But my print bed is tiny; something with a large bed would be better served with a series of small squares that match the calibration points, and some narrow lines connecting those squares. You want to observe how the walls go down, and how the surface goes down.
