That’s what I do. Permanent marker like Sharpies gets sucked into the voids and seems to last very well for me, but sometimes I use acrylics, too. All depends on the use case and look I am going for. Play with different media and see.
FolkArt Enamel acrylic paints work great.
I’ve been etching glass candle holder cups, and have had good success with black and brown tempura, brushed (more like dabbed) on with a sponge brush. Super easy to clean off. I’ve also used a black acrylic paint marker which comes off fine with IPA.
Using Luban settings B&W, 800mm speed and 70% power. Fill interval .06. I’ll post pics when I get a chance.
I’m interested in the coloring. How does it stand up to washing? Anyone tried running it thru the dishwasher? I’m struggling to find anything that will stand up to a dishwasher, but I’d love to not have to hand wash all the pint glasses I have planned.
Also, I tried the folk art enamel but it was too thin to collect in the etchings. Do I just need to mix it more thoroughly?
Thanks to everyone in this thread for all the help! It made my life so much easier.
