[First Batch Shipped Out] FAQs of Dual Extrusion 3D Printing Module for Snapmaker 2.0

The old catch more flies with honey thing really works.

I contacted support and listed some of my problems. they told me to switch the extruders around when my R nozzle was clogging. That was the answer, swap them around.

I mentioned that the z offset on the calibration was poor, and they said don’t use it. calibrate manually.

I mentioned my TPU problems, and they said use different tpu. actually he said you have to use tpu with shore hardness of 90a. (this is extremely aggrivating, 90a is not very flexible at all, but thats a moot point becuase) I am using ninjatek cheetah, which is shore hardness 95a. It just wraps the filament around the gears.

Wouldn’t even entertain trying to help me get it working correctly. So basically, they didnt care and im on my own. I’ve been battling this machine from day one, and they historically would (eventually) actually help. Not anymore. I guess that was an edwin thing.

So I have made (some) progress with the extruders. On the calibration menu after the initial calibration, there’s an extra option for calibrating the sensor itself. I recommend this. It really made a big difference. I also have gotten some 2 color prints to actually come out. They aren’t particularly pretty yet, but progress is made. I am not getting consistant extrusion, everytime I print a job the over/under extrusion comes out a little differently with the same materials on the same temperatures and even on the exact same gcode. The e-steps are calibrated pretty well, but I bet you anything if i check it again they will come out differently now that a couple of days passed. I think theres an issue with flow rate on them.

I also seem to have alot better luck with PETG than i did on the single extruder.

Unreated, but I also picked up a third party pei sheet from amazon and it is alot nicer than the snapmaker sheet. I would rather get my glass bed back on but I need to engineer a new mount for the sensor to even try it.

You get a quick response if it’s obviously not working. The troubleshooting or ambiguous issue is the problem.

I still got no answer or solution for my broken PCB. An no, I usually stay polite. :man_shrugging:t3:

Ok, so as not to walk away from the post after everything is fine, and leave everyone thinking only bad and broken stuff, I got the replacement dual extruder in the mail a few days ago and it seems to be printing fine. I’m happy with it. I guess I had a faulty unit.

Historically Snapmaker has been pretty good with helping me over the years. I am not getting any serious responses at all anymore. They are glossing over everything with very little effort whatsoever and its very frustrating, particularly when they take a week to respond, the least they could do is actually address my email thoroughly.

Highlights from the response to my original inquiry:

  • For the R nozzle Clogged issue. Please try installing the left hot end to the right and the right hot end to the left, re-calibrate and then print test.

  • If the TPU is too soft, shore hardness blew 90A, it is esay to wrap around the gear. Please use some high hardness TPU material.

  • If the automatic calibration is too much deviation, please try to use manual calibration.

I responded,

90a is not a particularly good material, with few quality brands. Does it state on the website that the machine will only handle 90a? that is a very large asterisk that should be made very clear…

Anyhow,

I wanted to ask about if I could order a new 3d printer bed with the updated reinforcements in the casting vs the first batch.

I also wanted to talk about upgrading to the new linear modules. I believe we were offered a discount from being a kickstarter buyer. The model I have is the A350.

I found on the forum a plastic clip that was made to insert into the dual extruders above the hatch. This seems to have helped a bit with the extruder getting stuck.

His response:

For TPU print, we recommend you to print with hardness 95A or 93A.

If your dual module have extrude problem, you can print a clip then insert into the buckle, it will help extruder gear engage bettber.

I feel like they could put a little effort in. I’m offering, for some unkown reason, to spend even more money on this thing and they dont even respond to it.

Snapmaker sent me two new pcba boards with FedEx Express. Thanks for this.
I forwarded the other one to another German customer with the same problem. Right pin on right extruder broken.
I already attached the new pcba and it works great.

But for sure first bigger print results in clogging again. I will now Checkout the thermal compound thing. :see_no_evil::raising_hand_man:t3:

They do not longer sell the new linear modules as an Extension pack. I had a discussion about that with their Support.

Extension? I just wanted to upgrade them because mine are old and worn out.

They are spendy but worth it. Wait for the major 50% sale that shows up occasionally.
I bought mine on a whim 4-5 months ago when they had a sale. Very nice smooth and quiet.

I had gotten the machine on kickstarter and they had told us that we could get them at a discount, i think it was 40%.

I tried to inquire before and they told me to buy them then ask for a refund. yet when buying parts that are not on the website, they use alternative means to do the transactions so I wanted to revisit it that way instead of having to hope they refund me. particularly when they wont even answer my emails more than the most basic of canned responses.

However, last week they were not available anymore anyhow.

If they have better deals than 40% then that would be nice.

yeah for me the store website is down.
I like the product hate the service.

They sent Out an Email with a Coupon. It was some kind of generic code. BUT as i Said: Support wrote me that the bundle is Out of production:

The Linear Module Bundle is also out of production in the China warehouse.

You can try to contact our distributor to purchase it.

I have also a Kickstarter a350 and asked for the modules two weeks ago.

Thats full of $h!t

As soon as a new product comes on they stop support of the old. WOW!! Not even a year or two of support.
really re thinking my purchase of snapmaker now.

They literally stopped manufacturing it?

Pathetic. Our stupid asses were going to keep throwing money at them and they can’t be assed to let us?

Do you think they might have been using Chinenglish and meant to say they don’t have inventory?

I’ll tell you one thing, at some point i am going to buy a new machine, and it certainly wont be a snapmaker.

I am glad I had as many problems as i did with my modules to the point i had a whole set shipped to me, i have 1 brand new one left in the box and 2 that can probably be fixed up. altho to be frank i was about to open that last one up because the print head is super wobbly.

For sure you can ask them in your own. But i think the new linear module bundle will not sold in Future. I think the modules are still produced for the a350t which is still produced as far as i know. But they do Not bundle them. Maybe they did Not sell much of them or they think all interested customers already bought them. Just give them a Message. Normally they find an way to help.

But coming Back to the topic. I removed the Front door of the Print head and my last Print worked without clogging. Support adviced to print with open door. It was the Same gcode which Made Problems with closed door.

That sounds like its probably the same thing being worked on in the heat creep discussion then applying the thermal paste

Do you know if the a350T uses the same modules?

I contacted them and got an email back.

They are still producing them for new machine builds. They just wont package them in a kit for upgrade anymore.

Oh okay, i dont know where to place an order for them they dont have them listed individually but ill check on the a350t accessories page

thank you

maybe if you contact support directly but i would say good luck.
