Filament settings by brand

Hey all,

I tried searching for a topic like this…but I couldn’t find one. So, if there is one…please direct me to where it is. If not…I have an idea for the community.

Since there are so many of us now. And I’m fairly certain that there are many who use every kind and brand of filament out there. What if we all pooled our combined knowledge and put together a list of filament types (pla, tpu, etc.) and brands (overture, elegoo, etc.) along with the 3d print settings for achieving the best possible resulting print with the lease amount of after care. We could start a Topic and then fill it with just filament types, brand and settings.

Thoughts?

In general I like your idea.

I see challenges because of hundreds of brands, lot of materials and different slicers to use.

I print every “mainstream” material in the same way like, 1mm retraction at 45mm/s.
I vary in temperature, speed and part cooling fan depending on the model and on the material.

In the past, I started to print a temperature tower for every new material but if you are dialed in it’s pretty much the same depending on the material, not the brand.

One issue I have with some filament suppliers material that is so tightly wound on the spool that it puts a load on the print head, when pulling it off the reel. MatterHackers filament always comes off smoothly and their spools seem to be wound just a bit less tightly.
