♻️ Filament recycling registry - What do you use in your region?

Hey all!
Looking for some input to add to the GitHub - shurushetr/awesome-snapmaker: Curated list of things that help you make something awesome with Snapmaker machines.
I’d love to know how do you recycle filament.
I’m purchasing these in US - https://shop.terracycle.com/en-US/products/3d-printing-materials-zero-waste-box
But I also sort my filament by type and color before I ship it to them. To make it more efficient.

What do you do?

I don’t. I just trash it. There have been attempts at home recycling devices, i.e. a device that creates filament from shredded prints. The creator of The Next Layer YouTube channel has videos about one he created.

Trashing is never a good answer to a problem. Aren’t there any recycling facilities in your area?

In Germany we have the “Recycling Fabrik” where you can send over your unsuccessful prints and other filament trash.

But they accept only 2kg as a minimum and not all the time because they are already overloaded.
So, i mainly put it in trash.
The effort of recycling it by myself would cause more damage to the environment.

Oh wow, I didn’t realize the facility overload could be an issue.
In the facebook group people mentioned making stuff by melting scraps into molds. Like small sculptures and toys. Better then throwing out.

Like this

My trash service has a compost bin. I contacted them about composting PLA, and they told me to just put it in the landfill bin. Their compost process is high temperature, so it could compost the PLA. But the trash sorters have been trained to remove all plastics from the compost stream.

They simply received too much. There were pictures of their storage area published, completely full.

Not that I’m aware of. I live in Texas.
