I would like to request an update to the release note pages on https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/snapmaker_u1/firmware/release_notes.
Could you please include detailed instructions on how to install these firmware updates offline? Additionally, it would be helpful to list the specific requirements for the USB drives used in this process. Especially, having a single partition on the drive is a must.
Context
I recently enrolled in the firmware 1.5.2 beta and followed the instructions on your wiki to save the .bin file onto a 16GB USB drive formatted on my MacBook Pro.
Initially, I encountered an issue where the printer would not detect the update file while offline, though it worked when connected via Wi-Fi. After exporting my logs, your team noted that the U1 only shows one partition and suggested my USB drive might have two, causing the system to occasionally mount the wrong one. The team response:
Hi Mauker, I got some feedback from the engineers that U1 only shows one partition. It seems like your USB drive has two partitions, and each time you plug it in, the system may mount a different one. If it mounts the partition without the firmware file, the update won’t be recognized.
Upon investigation, I discovered that formatting the drive on my Mac used a GPT partition table, which automatically created a hidden EFI partition.
To resolve this, I completely erased the drive, switched to an MBR partition table, and created a single partition. Following this change, the Snapmaker U1 successfully detected and read the update file.
I wanted to share this feedback in case it helps other users encountering the same issue.
