Enclosure A250 with aluminium top

Hi everybody,

Here a newbie with his first A250. I would like to ask for advice from those of you who have more experience with these machines.

I am planning to replace the methacrylate plate on the top of the enclosure of my A250 with a 3-mm thick aluminum plate. I already have the plate cut.

The aluminum will allow me to machine that surface more easily (for example, I want to make a hole in it to introduce the filament from above). Furthermore, it is fireproof and opaque to the laser …

Do you think it is a good idea?
Do you see any drawbacks (insulation, heat transfer, expansion) that I should be concerned about?

Shouldn’t be an issue, and definitely worthwhile. I replaced my top panel with a 1/4" black acrylic panel, for largely the same reasons. I put a vacuum passthrough and a filament pass through in.
