Dutch & Belgium Snapmakers ; I'm thinking of

Hello to all Snapmakers !

I’m so proud and so excited to receive my Snapmaker in a few weeks time. I asked Snapmaker for the forum invite because I’m a bit busy in my head with an idea.

That’s where I need the opinions from my fellow Dutch & Belgium snapmakers ;
I’m almost a noob on every terrain. The Snapmaker would be my first 3D printer and also my first cnc and laser engraver. Like many should agree with, when the Snapmaker campaign started, most of us where thrilled I think ? An offer you can’t refuse. That was the feeling I had for sure and with some hastle and doubts, I became backer number 1814, afraid the 3-in-1 rewards would run out at 2000 backers.
Because I’m a noob, I think I’ve the right and best ‘papers’ to do something complety out of my comfort zone ; Making podcasts. In Dutch language (because my spoken english is a bit worse than my English written here) and curious what I could learn from other snapmakers. Talk about the best new updates, what snapmakers made in their little factories…

All that kind of stuff. So… I’m thinking of starting with podcasts in the first quarter of 2018. Hopefully meeting and talking with other snapmakers to make a good show and if it’s possible, to recap the podcasts in English here on the forum and maybe a new webpage…

Very curious what you think of this idea ! Podcasts, Yay or Nay ?

Hello Meike, I too am a noob. I do not have my Snapmaker as yet and am looking forward to receiving one. This is a grand adventure for many of us and the sharing of ideas/experiences benefits all of us. I have been placing entries on the forum of projects that I have found that may be of interest to newbies.
Keep having fun

Good morning there :smiley:

I figure it must be around midnight where you are. 08:55am here. Welcome to the fun forum.

Hi Melke:

Really appreciate for your kindness and self-giving. I’m one of snapmaker staff and think your idea is interesting.
Since we have no experience on podcast, we don’t know what should we do. You may give us more information like how will you start and what help do you need.

Feel free to ask us for more information, we can discuss it together~
I think it’s excited to build a Dutch & Belgium Community of snapmakers. :smile:

Hi Meike,

Glad to have you here!
Like Noah said, it’s a good idea to start a podcast sharing what you get with the Snapmaker. It’s really nice of you!
Only one information I would like to share with you is that podcast may not be as popular as YouTube channels now. Though you need more time and equipment to shoot a video, it’s more attractive to other makers and more info can be shared through the video. Just a little piece of advice. I am sure you can have fun with the podcast too. =)

@Rainie @Noah @Meike

Rainie, I have a friend in New York, Mitch Maiman, who owns Intelligent Product Solution (IPS) and who specialise in solving tricky electronic engineering challenges. They started back in 2008 as a two man business and now they are in three states with 150+ staff. As part of their business they write articles for magazines http://intelligentproduct.solutions/blog/ and https://www.pddnet.com/staff-author/mitch-maiman , they make use of audio podcast https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/ips-industrial-designers/id1195705259?i=1000394361888&mt=2 which is quite successful for those who follow them. Certainly YouTube presents to the masses however podcast can be effective by appealing to cohorts of interested followers, who often pass on links to their interested parties. Whatever medium is used, interested parties will follow it as a source of information and learning.

I say, well done @Meike and I for one look forward to your podcast … as I might just learn from them.

@william.o.yates Thanks for your reply, it shows it could be a good idea to do something with this.

The most difficult thing now is to have a good setup to record my podcasts = making a popfilter and having a space with as less surrounding noises as possible. As far as I can see now, I’ll record my pilot podcast somewhere in the first two weeks of January ! And if that’s a success, I’ll use it as my first podcast ! But it will be in my own language because I won’t (can’t) express myself the best in English. I could try to translate it with subs and upload it to YouTube. I can’t promise I would do this…

Any advise where I should upload my podcasts would be great !

Take the path of least stress and record in your own language, as time moves on, I am sure translation services will be found. The main thing is that you are brave enough to try and I am sure forum members will help where they can.

Take care and have a great weekend.
