Creating a g code from a PDF file

Continuing the discussion from Greetings!:

Why are you trying to work with such an unsuitable file format? PDFs are best used as final layout for 2D printing. They’re not really intended as an input format for other processes.

That being said, try importing it into Inkscape (if you don’t have it yet, go download it—it’s free, open source, and available for most common platforms). You may be able to save your file as .svg or .png from there, and Luban can import either of those formats.

Thank you I will try

Snapmaker Luban does not support PDF files. You can make some images of the file and turn it into .png, .svg, or .jpg files.

Inkscape will help to convert the file formats.

How do you import svg or png files into Luban. Lubin will not recognize such file to open and I cannot find any import function, Thanks

What version of Luban are you using? They switch bits of the interface around from time to time.

You can drag and drop or you need to use the “add” button in the upper left of workspace.
You also need to be under the appropriate tab for which toolhead/function you want to use.

As sdj544 says, it’s the button I’ve pointed out here:

Note that I have the laser tab open here. You can only load .png and .svg into the laser and CNC tabs.

For quite a bit the add button was not there. I needed to delete and reload software. Hope this helps.
