Control laser power while running boundary

I have the 2.0 with 10W laser. When I load the file for engraving I usually reduce the laser power to zero in order to prevent marking the object I’m engraving while run the boundary to check my placement. It still raises the power and makes a mark when it’s running the boundary. It makes a slight box around my design. How do I keep from marking the object while running the boundary? TIA.

Wow, what are you actually lasering that it gets marked by the small power during boundary run?

I guess that the laser power during boundary is hard-coded (a guess, did not really check) - but would a piece of paper on top of your workpiece be a simple workaround?

I’m marking powder coated and painted surfaces.

Wow… I’d not expected that this would be marked - potentially, the latest firmware contains a wrong value for boundary laser power? I’d contact support!

Product Support said they’d add a feature in the future to allow adjusting laser power during run boundaries. Recommended covering the surface with a piece of paper like you said. Sometimes I am working with tight boundaries and a piece of paper will block my view. I’ll probably used painters tape. It’ll stay in place better when the fan is blowing.
