CNC - Flattening bit and Jog Height

On a larger CNC machine you can get a 2 inch or so flattening bit to flatten and level waste boards and material before cutting with a normal CNC blade. I am not seeing anything available for the 1/8" chuck on the Snapmaker CNC.

Has anyone found a solution for that? I have had nothing but problems with the CNC bits clearing the work surface so when I cut I get cuts and scratches where I don’t want them. I tried increasing the jog height but that doesn’t seem to work and I have read posts with other making the same complaint.

What is the solution because with the way it is “working” the CNC is garbage.

On Jog height: I never used Luban to set up milling jobs, but only Fusion 360. With that, Jog height is working. Luban is a simplistic tool, unless recently something improved considerably, I’d recommend against using it for more complicated jobs.

On flattening bits: The 1/8" collet can be exchanged to allow for up to 8mm bits. There are collet sets on Amazon, or better quality can be found elsewhere. I bought this one: https://shop.stepcraft-systems.com/Collet-Set-ER11. You’ll certainly find a flattening bit for some of the diameters.

On general milling quality: The Snapmaker milling bits are OK at best (matching their price point). For satisfying, good (and even faster) results, invest in better quality milling bits.
