CNC engraving into oak countertop material

This time it worked all of the way. Roughing pass with a 6mm end mill, followed by a cleaning pass with a 1mm Ballnose and a finishing pass with a 0.25mm Ballnose. CNC file created using vCarve with the Snapmaker post-processor.

Dry fit in place before staining to match the original timbers.

Nice!

What were your run speeds and time?

I don’t remember the roughing pass, but the clearing path was about 4 hours and the finishing pass about 2 hours. ~12K on the spindle

THis is nice, What cnc module you used?

I upgraded to the 200W model on an A350

Where did you get the image from?

I bought it from an artist on https://www.renderhub.com. But the list of useful places to look for cool models is huge… Some quick examples

Thanks. What was the toolhead movement speeds/work-speed (mm/min)?

I’m assuming that is oak?

Yup - oak countertop leftovers from a kitchen renovation.

According to the vCarve settings, I was at 12K RPM on both ballnose passes, the 1mm was at 12mm/sec and the 0.25mm was at 18mm/sec

Fairly sure that is beech not oak - but a nice piece of work - congratulations.

Good call on the beech. Just checked and there were leftovers from two different projects, one beech and the other oak
