Hi, after 3 years of wondering why my CNC head made a slightly odd noise I have discovered a reason:
The area within the collet clamping nut, into which the collet clips, is off centre!
Please see the photos below. You can see the screwdriver illustrates the different width of the ledge each side.

The inside of the collet nut is supposed to be like that.

Thanks. I see now. Maybe I should delete the first post… 
Luckily though, I have always managed to fit it correctly. So maybe I should be looking for another reason for the odd noise.
I wouldn’t delete it, someone else is bound to have the same “issue” so it will help them. Can you post a video with audio of the problem your having so we can try and figure out what the issue is.
