It looks like the white bed trim on the underside of the Z stage is coming away from the corners. I was able to push it up but there was no snap. Is this a fit or assembly issue I can fix myself?
Is it going down while heating up the build Plate?
On my printers the corners snap down while heating up.
The surrounding plastic parts are just decorative and don’t affect functionality.
Agree. These are trim and the pictures you show don’t look unusual to me.
Doesn’t matter if the trim is only decorative. Would you be impressed if the trim on your new car started to do the same…after all, it’s only decorative. ![]()
Splitting hairs I know…but the principle is the same. This is the QC and QA stuff that needs to be sorted.
Who marked this as the solution??
It’s fair to ask for something more consistent. But having done some mechanical design, there are features engineered with strict tolerances, and noncritical dimensions that are allowed to float for technical and cost purposes. Like touch guards around precision movement hardware.
Note in this case, the bed itself necessarily sits on leveling screws adjusted from below. The plastic housing/cover floats around it, attached to the bottom metal frame.
I won’t lose sleep over it then, but it’s not great. Maybe I’ll just remove the trim alltogether if it’s not functional
