Laser engrave/cutting for clear acrylic

I saw this guy was able to engrave directly on a clear acrylic https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=208&v=uwkPZETgdlc&feature=emb_title I just tried using the following settings on a Snapmaker 2, but couldn’t engrave anything on a clear acrylic. First try at lasering (paint off clear acrylic)

Sheet of clear acrylic, frosted one side (back side). Painted with a few quick passes of a matte black paint + primer on the ‘glossy’ side. (Plain old Rustoleum brand crud.) Wanted to experiment see if my idea of lasering off custom backlit panels for joystick and throttle bases would work. Backlighting in this image is nonuniform of course, and definitely proves I need thicker paint than just one coat. Engraving clear acrylic using CNC

I used the CNC module for the first time this week, I went through the assembly instructions, followed the sample tutorial to engrave the phone holder with the black frosted acrylic sheet that came with the machine. It turned out really good, the cuts were clear, not melting/burning. I then engraved a simple design on a clear 3mm acrylic sheet without changing any settings/configuration, but I noticed the acrylic melted and got stuck to the cnc bit.
