@kwi yeah I saw this, it might be what’s getting announced this month.
received also from snapmaker support the feedback that new laser will be released this year.
additional I got the info that it will be a 10 Watt laser module.
Pricing info was not available until now.
10w Laser in November
I hope they get the certification world wide for it.
Finally up on site and available for pre-order:
$399 pre-order price ($459 regularly)
Ships in February 2022
8 times the Speed of the 1.6W Laser Module
Maximum Cutting Depth : 8 mm Bassword
Link:
-S
And finally several details were also published :
Total Optical Output Power | 10W |

Diode Service Life | 8,000–10,000 hours |
Number of Lenses per Beam | 6 (see wind simulation) |
Spot Size | 0.05 mm × 0.2 mm (before: 0.2 mm × 0.3 mm) |
Wavelength | 450 - 460 nm (same as before) |
Air Assist | Build-in Fan |

Still, some points remain unknown :
- Diode Type (NUBM44?)
- Working Distance
- Focal Length (8mm?)
- Diffraction Value M²
- Numerical Aperture
- Transmittance
- Back Focal Length
- Compatibility to known lens mounts (e.g. M9)?
- More kind of lenses in the future?
- Will the lens be available separately, too?
- Possibility to mount a real air assist?
- OD of the included safety goggles?
- Recommended OD for the new laser?
Probably the safety googles are those already in the shop which are od16
You probably mean these with OD6+?
OD16 would be awesome
yes, 6+ sorry. These are different than the ones I have from one year ago, which are green. I do not know is the brown ones are exactly the same as the ones they were sending lately with the 1.6W. I though that with the 10W we would need more protection.
Single pass cutting of 8mm black acrylic. I’m in. I’d like to see it do that before I throw down $400 though. Will it cut white acrylic I wonder?
For wood it needs two passes for 8mm, so i guess this could for acrylic the same…
Did you read this on the prpduct page?
The FAQ says “Dark Acrylic (Blue excluded)”. So white is probably not possible. It is the same wavelength. So anything possible previously gets possible with fewer passes/for thicker material. There are some more types supported, but what you want is a different color, not a different material.
Btw., they mention that the “maximum cutting depth per pass for basswood is 5 mm”. That may implicate that the focal length is only 5mm.
