What is the Addon port for?

What add-ons can I add?

None made for the J1 yet. Was more commonly used for the SM2.0 I think.

The two main pins are 24V though. And there’s a particular cable you can get for the 2.0 that just about fits, aside from a small keying.

So I may have gotten a buck convertor and made my own add on just to provide 5V USB for my octoprint server and 12V for a Bentobox filter.

I was thinking of adding a bento box and was wondering how to power it. This is a great solution!

If it helps, it was the DC Power Cable for Snapmaker 2.0.

It’s a very snug fit if you don’t remove the plastic keying at the bottom of the cable’s plug.

ALSO, check polarity (very carefully) of the outer pins before using. IIRC, if you cut a cable to use the leads, the red is ground and the black is 24V+.

Thank you for the additional information

Just be mindful not to short something and blow your board. Also, I put a little fuse on mine just in case, to be sure I don’t pull too much power from it. It’s meant to be a CAN bus connection, but no idea the power limit.

(I’d give the model and parts I used, but after the fact I have some small regrets I wanna fix  I just wanted to get it finished though)

Do you know if snapmaker will ever make add-ons for the J1(s) ?

No idea, but I kind of doubt it at this point.

Strange they included the port then

it was likely part of the original design before snapmaker took over this printer from the original company that designed it. the original design was meant to be open source, including the touch screen control software. instead now theres locked down android that cant be factory reset. the factory reset only resets some settings of the android app that we see on the screen while the actual android operating system runs in the background
