I have been using the Snapmaker Artisan Premium for just over a month, and to expand i am considering a rotary unit.
In the past I have etched on glass with an Atomstack laser and the rollers they offered some years ago, so I still have this set. It is simply a stepper with 2 rubber coated rollers on top where I can place whichever object i wish to engrave. On the Atomstack I would replace the wire for the X-axis with the wire for the roller and be ready to go.
My question is if it is possible to make it so I can use these rollers with my Artisan?
I assume that i will need to buy an extension cable in order to make a connection from my rollers to the control unit, and find a way to signal the rollers to move.
Has anyone tried this before, and what had to be done in order to make it work?
PS. I know I can buy the Snapmaker rotary unit, and do really consider it. However it only supports Ø68 materials, where my old roller supports any diameter that can fit under the laser.
