U1 Print Time does not match

Hello everyone,

I’ve had the Snapmaker U1 for a few weeks now and have already printed quite a few things with it. I’ve noticed that the print time in the Snapmaker Orca Slicer significantly differs from the actual time.

First, I’ve observed that the elapsed time is considerably longer. In other words, one minute of print time on the display actually corresponds to about 3-4 minutes.

Additionally, I’ve sliced the same part using both the Bambulab A1 and Snapmaker with the same settings. The Bambulab Lab takes 2.1 hours, while the Snapmaker takes 3.2 hours. I can’t understand why this difference exists. (Monocolor)

Moreover, I’m not the only one experiencing this issue. A colleague also has the U1 and has noticed that the slicer print time is off by 2 hours. His prints simply took 2 hours longer. This wasn’t an isolated incident; he experienced this with every print.

Does anyone know about this problem and can help us out?

Thank you for your support :)\

Best regards

Florian

There are other posts about this as well. I believe that it is being looked at. I’m curious, have you printed the same part on the U1 and A1 and compared actual printing time vs slicer time?

What affects print time the most is layer height.

Are you using the same settings on the a1 and U1? For example, 0.2?

I’m currently printing a lot, and my a1mini is slightly slower than the U1.

Compare your slicer settings between Orca and Bambu Studio. There’s likely a small difference there.

I’ve gotten used to the slicer times being off by now. It would be nice to simply see the actual total print time after a print. I’m mainly interested in print time when I print a part frequently, and having the actual runtime would be helpful.

I still remember the first model I sliced with Snapmaker Orca. The layer height was set to 12 or 16 mm, and I couldn’t believe how long the print would take. Then I changed the setting to the default of 2 mm, and that matched my expectations much better.

I use Google Translate with voice input. Sorry for the long, convoluted sentences. I hope you understand.

We’ve noted this issue and are working on a fix.

I started a print at 9:26 AM that SnOrca said would take 5h51m; it finished after 6h07m…

However, I had my first filament runout! I saw how much filament I had left on the spool, so I was expecting it to happen. Although I heard the machine stop, it took me 10 to 15 minutes to pull off the empty spool, open a new spool from a sealed bag, put that spool on, and then I fumbled around on the U1 screen for a bit trying to find where to load the filament during a runout.

I’d say my numbers are very accurate, being within a 5-minute window but I will check again on the next print I run :sign_of_the_horns::sign_of_the_horns:

I checked with the software team—they say the latest release already fixed this once. For most prints the estimate is now within 3%~7 % of actual time, and they’re still polishing it to shrink that gap further. Expect a future update to nail it completely.
