U1 Firmware V1.6.0 Beta Testing is Now Available

Hi All,

The U1 V1.6.0 beta firmware is ready for testing. It packs in new hardware support (HF hotend, new IMU sensor), smarter filament handling, and a handful of quality‑of‑life improvements – plus critical fixes for power‑loss recovery and more.

We need your help to validate these changes. Check out the release notes below and let us know what you find.

What’s New

  • Added support for 0.4mm High Flow Hotend.

Full hardware functionality requires Snapmaker Orca V2.3.7 or later for proper configuration

Best Test Focus:Not required if you don’t have High Flow hotend installed.

  • Added support for the new SC7A20HT IMU sensor and automatic IMU type detection.

The system will apply the corresponding vibration suppression algorithm based on the detected sensor type. Incorrect identification may result in visible ringing/ghosting marks during acceleration/deceleration phases.The adaptation has been pre‑integrated in firmware, and the full feature experience will require a hardware update.

Best Test Focus:No verification required for this beta.

  • Supported Persistent storage of power‑loss trigger timing.

The power‑loss time is written to a storage area and permanently saved. When the system determines the power‑loss time, it first checks whether a power_loss_check.json file exists in the SD card or storage. If the file exists, the system reads the value from the file; if not, it falls back to the saved configuration.

Best Test Focus: Test whether printing could be resumed after multiple times power failure.

  • Added a “manual override mode” for the Filament Feeder, allowing manual filament handling during maintenance.

When engaged, the feeder gear is disengaged from the motor, enabling free rotation for easy filament insertion/removal and gear cleaning.

Best Test Focus:Enable the neutral state from the maintenance menu, manually push and pull filament through the extruder, and confirm there is no motor resistance.

  • Added AI detection submission prompt on the print completion page

Best Test Focus: Complete a print and verify that the submission prompt appears on the completion page. Test both the “submit” and “skip” options and confirm the page behaves as expected.

  • Added new filament types(PLA Wood, PLA Full Spectrum, PLA Translucent, PLA-CF, PETG Translucent, PETG-CF, ASA), and RFID‑enabled filament support for PLA Glow.

Added new material types to the manual selection list. Updated the internal RFID mapping table so that the U1 can recognize the new PLA Glow filament spools and automatically apply the correct print parameters.

Best Test Focus: Manually select each new material type in the UI and verify that the corresponding preset parameters (temperature, cooling, speed) are applied correctly.
(Optional) Load a PLA Glow spool with RFID and confirm the printer automatically identifies it and applies the correct preset.

Optimizations

  • Updated built‑in filament profiles
  • Optimized retraction tip forming parameters
  • When nozzle attributes are changed, if an incompatibility is detected between the nozzle and the configured filament, the stored filament profile (including diameter and flow type) will be automatically cleared
  • Optimized G‑code file parameter parsing
  • Improved filament load/unload efficiency
  • Updated exported log file naming convention
  • Added runtime reset prompt for purifier/filter cartridge
  • Power‑loss recovery trigger delay adjusted from 22ms to 25ms
  • Chamber LED control frequency adjusted from 100Hz to 300Hz

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the top cover guide would not appear after completing the initial setup wizard
  • Fixed an issue where the Z‑axis stepper motor would not respond to 0.1 mm step commands
  • Fixed an issue in the Wi‑Fi management interface where pressing the Enter key on the soft keyboard caused an incorrect page redirect
  • Fixed an issue where the CAN bus could not send remote frames or extended frames(Not user-visible at this stage. It will take effect when the stock AMS is connected.)
  • Fixed an issue where power‑loss recovery could fail due to incorrect file position calculation under certain conditions

  • Regression Testing: Ensure that core/commonly used features remain unaffected and perform normally without introducing new issues.
  • Stability & Compatibility: Assess overall firmware stability, including but not limited to: communication interruptions, crashes, freezes/unresponsiveness, and unexpected error prompts

Please report issues directly in this post with a clear description and any relevant files (logs, G-code, screenshots, or videos) to help our team investigate.

Been testing this version last couple days with multiple prints. Everything was stable, no communication issues or crashes.

Built-in filament profiles

Tested changing through all of them and all worked fine. I don’t have PLA Glow to test, though

Tested this with multiple times power failure, allowing the printer to fully boot between power cuts. Also tested power cut while paused. All working good
