Toolhead 2 detached when its attached?

Good morning, I recently just set up my U1 when I get to the initial calibration it fails saying the toolhead is detached. It’s like its not even reading that there is a toolhead 2 attached at all. It doesn’t let me resume after I reinstall it.

I’ve tried a few things

  1. Checking the USB is plugged in correctly

  2. Trying another tool head

  3. Retightening the belts

  4. Skipping the initial set up to update the printer to 1.0 (didn’t help)

  5. The printer doesn’t even bother bringing the bed up and down it just hits the corner a bit and throws me the error.

  6. When i skip the initial set up and do the coordinate thing on the 1.0 upgrade it doesn’t let me because it doesn’t detect the toolhead

Trying to add the the checklist…

The Toolhead is showing the red slider in the correct position when you reinstall it?

Have you fully powered down after swapping Toolheads to restart the initial setup?

Correct position as in not there? Because I cant see the red on the slider when I dock it.

I havent tried hard restart ill try that when I get home

Oh god I feel bad for you… I had this problem and there is an extensive thread about it. I’m seriously just starting to think that some printers just have an inherent flaw with manufacturing or perhaps its a QC problem. I love my printer, but that was a beast of an issue that really was upsetting.

Best I can say is try to follow along with the recommended troubleshooting steps and open a ticket with support.

Snapmaker’s support is actually really good.

Did you manually disconnect the toolhead? Do that and then put it back on the printer. I would then turn it off, manually rotate the gantry again, turn it back on and try another calibration.

Make sure the pogo pins aren’t greasy etc etc…

These are all things I had to do and I honestly don’t know what fixed it.

It was either the firmware update, rotating the gantry, adjusting homing coordinates, checking pogo pins, or a simple prayer.

If all else fails, tech support my friend. Good luck!

This is how to properly remove the Toolhead:

https://wiki.snapmaker.com/en/snapmaker_u1/troubleshooting/toolhead_replacement_guide

(3) Insert the H2.0 hex key into the middle holes between the 2 locating pins until you hear a click sound, then remove the toolhead

the toolhead isn’t in the toolhead swapper it doesn’t get that far.

Understood… unfortunately/fortunately I’ve got no reference then. Sorry and best of luck!

What does that mean? Are you saying the toolhead doesn’t attach at all? Like it tries to pick it up but doesn’t? That also happened to me… Mostly during homing. Def contact support…

Update to the latest firmware and try the tool-head coordinate calibration.
Before you start, scrub the pogo pins on the print head with a scouring pad to make sure no dust or grease is covering them.

alright gentlemen it appears my problem has been fixed, turns out the 16 pin cable that connects to the motherboard wasn’t in all the way. I had to open the back of the printer remove the glue from the 16 pin connector and insert it all the way its working well now as far as I am looking at it.
