I’ve seen that with the Upgrade Kit For Enclosure V1.0 with the firmware update that the “Snapmaker” can stop and restart printing so I’m wondering if we could imagine the same functionality when we have an electric failure or a prematured ending of the filament
Not sure about CNC but I doubt it. Pausing the CNC cutter is a more complicated process than simply turning the spindle on / off.
The SW release notes refer specifically and only to the laser.
Yeah, I was doubting it too… which makes me wonder: Why bother? Maybe if you have little ones in the house… but other than that, I don’t really see the benefit… Am I missing something?
Simply for your own (eye) protection. Means you can open the enclosure (which is tinted) to adjust something or whatever, without having to wear the special laser goggles. Also to protect others (esp. children) should they happen to open the door.
Might even be a compliance issue with norms and law requirements in certain countries.
