@Zoe
It was with great anticipation I awaited a ‘mystery gift bag’ to be delivered today. Looking at the variety of items available in the store I’m sure it would be something of use.

Imagine my excitement when the postman handed me a small bag containing:
One packet of Snapmaker Blank Wood Squares (10 pieces)
Two A250 Laser Engraving & Cutting Platforms

I have used each different module multiple times. During normal use I have replaced the 3d print beds as they sustained damage, the CNC bed has been replaced/resurfaced a number of times.

The one bed I haven’t damaged or had any issues with (that would require replacement) is the Laser platform, and now I have TWO spare beds.

I realize the items are randomly selected by the warehouse to dispatch, but unless someone else wants these (PM me and I’ll post em to you) Can I return them to the warehouse? I’d rather they sit in your stock than take up my shelf space.

many thanks!

Thank you for sharing, but the EU giveaway has already been given out.

Let’s try finding someone here or among your friends who might need them!

At the moment, the warehouse doesn’t support returns, sorry about that!

Sooooo sad ! :slightly_frowning_face:

Hi @Mr_Fen! I’m also in Melbourne, Australia. I haven’t gotten my mystery package yet, but if it turns out to be something that’s of no use to me (and is useful for you) maybe we can do a swap. Also happy to either meet in the CBD or I can pay for postage if you just want to get them off your hands. :slight_smile:

Got a 10w laser! I already have one, but never hurts to have a second just in case! Thanks!

Hi again, @Mr_Fen! Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure you don’t want none of this! :rofl:

My offer still stands to take those items off your hands if you’d like! I can pay for postage or meet you in the CBD during the week. :smiley:

@mina Got wood!

I am looking to build something just like this. How tall did you make your 2x6’s in order to have clearance for the enclosure underneath?

I roughly followed the plans at How To Build a Workbench - DIY Workbench Plan but adjusted the cut list to make it as small as possible while making sure I had the option to put the enclosure on the bottom shelf.

In the end, I still messed up and ended up making the thing wider than I intended because I forgot to account for the width of the wood. :dodo:

The cut list for what I ended up building is as follows:

Board Number Size Notes
Top 1 Birch Plywood 1/2"x34"x45" 3" larger than the frame you make in step 2
Shelf 1 Birch Plywood 1/2"x31"x45" exactly fits the frame you make in step 2
Frame Long Boards 4 2"x4" 45" This length will leave 34" between the legs which is enough to access the full enclosure
Frame Short Boards 4 2"x4" 28" These can be up to 6" shorter than this and still fit the enclosure on the bottom shelf with full access to all the doors
Legs 4 2"x6" 32 1/2" 2"x6" is probably way overkill, Snapmaker isn’t that heavy, but that’s what the plans called for and I like the robust look. This leaves about 1 1/4" clearance between the frame and the top of the enclosure on the bottom shelf.

I had to get larger casters than I originally wanted so I could get some with locks. These add 4" to the total height which comes in at 36 3/4".

Construction is pocket screws and brad nails.

I’m probablty going to add walls and doors to the bottom shelf for a DIY enclosure but that’s a long term goal. Maybe I’ll try to do something fancy with the CNC. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

If it were not for the fact that I messed up cutting the plywood and had to go get another sheet, it took about three hours from start to finish. It’s not furnature quality but it’s pretty servicable as a workbench.

Here’s the workbench from more angles.

Obviously I’ve added a bunch of mods since that original post too. It’s a great way to dial in the settings and end up with something useful when you are done.

Awesome. Thank you very much for the cut list. I thought that this one resembled the one from Kreg site, as I was looking at that as well.
